here it goes... Wednesday, April 25, 2007 11:56 AM
I was telling God that i wanna get more wisdom! haa.. and what a better way to draw wisdom than from the Book of Proverbs. (not forgetting.. you can simply ask God for it too > James 1:5-6)
Yeah, I'm now reading Genesis and going through the book of Proverbs. It has been really good! I also started journaling down what I learn and captured from reading the Bible. (whoooo.. I have NOT done that for quite a long time! yeah.. go ahead.. start WRITING down what you learn from the Bible! It's amazing!)
Just want to list down 3 different kinds of statements... (there are more than these too!)
-There are LAWS - these are commands that I'm always supposed to do eg. Deu 6 - Love the Lord your God with all your heart > yes! Everyone is to love God that way.
- And there are PROMISES - this is a gurantee of what God will do or a guarantee of what will happen. eg. Rom 8 - Nothing can seperate us from the love of God. > Isn't this promise great?!
- And then there are PROVERBS- A proverb is a catchy desciption about the way things generally are. eg. Prov 11:25 - A generous man will prosper. > A lot of times people can be quite generous and they may not prosper at all. They may be poor. Because proverbs are not guaranteed formulas for sucess, in finances, parenting or work. They are wise observations about kingdom living.
Another feature of proverbs: Proverbs are designed to force us to have to think about them.
Prov 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.
wheeeeee (:
